1949-2023
Maria E. Hernandez passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of Friday, September 22, 2023. She was surrounded by the prayers and love of her extended family and friends.
Maria was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala on July 8, 1949, daughter of the late Zoila Aguilar, and Miguel Hernandez. She attended school in Guatemala and was a homemaker who cared not only for her family, but also for her extended family, raising her two daughters and two sons being an active member of the La Iglesia Pentecostal Dios Con Nosotros church community.
She was wonderful and everyone loved and enjoyed her presence. Her life was characterized by deep faith and love for her family. Maria will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, daughter and grandmother. She leaves behind her beloved daughters Clara Remirez and her son in law Omar Camacho [with whom she lived in Scranton] and Norma Negron, and her son Cesar Gonzalez, Spring Hill, FL.; her 7 grandchildren Alex, Ashley, Angelica, Jaime, Crystal, Lizmary and Yamilet; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special families and friends from Scranton, Spring Hill, FL, the Congregation Iglesia Pentecostal Dios Nosotros and Pastors Angel and Evelyn Diaz.
Maria, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her Sisters Cristina, Olga and Estela Hernandez and Brothers Louis, Miguel and Mauro Hernandez.
The Funeral will be Monday evening at La Iglesia Pentecostal Dios Con Nosotros, 1218 Quincy Avenue, Dunmore, at 7:00 with services led by Co Pastor Francisco Ferrer. The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 7 PM until 9:00 PM. Burial will be at the Dunmore Cemetery, 400 Church St., Dunmore, PA. Family and friends will reunite at the Church on Tuesday at 10:00 AM and head to the cemetery at 11 AM.
