Janet Jones passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7th, 2023 at home after an illness.
Janet was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Harold and Rita McLaughlin Jones. She graduated from West Scranton HS, Class of 1971 and a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Scranton. Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years in the insurance field with Kinsel Insurance.
Janet had a joy for living as well as her family and many friends. She was a proud of her West Scranton roots and enjoyed being a free spirit. In her free time, she enjoyed watching old movies, old TV shows and talking to her lifelong friend Eileen Loughney on the phone.
Janet was a devoted Sister, Aunt and friend who leaves a loving brother John “Jack” Jones and his wife Lou Ann, Dalton; several nieces, and nephews, all whom were special to her and many friends. Janet was preceded in death by her sisters Barbara Jones, Diane Masters and Rita Walker; Brothers Thomas Jones, Harold Jones and Robert Jones.
In keeping with Janet’s wishes a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard E. Fox on Friday October 20th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s IHM Chapel, 1605 Oram St., Scranton with internment of her cremains to immediately follow at Cathedral Cemetery. The family will greet friend at the Chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
