Barbara Plisga O’Boyle, 72, formerly of Dupont anda resident of West Scranton, passed away at Hospice of the Sacred Heart on Sunday after battling Multiple Sclerosis since 1992.She and her husband JosephO’Boyle celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Victoria RyloPlisga of Dupont and a graduate of Sacred Heart of Jesus grade school and St. John the Evangelist High School, Class of 1968. Upon her retirement in 1995 she was employed by the Commonwealth’s Department of Environmental Resources, Wilkes-Barre for 26 years.
Barb was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Dupont, PA and St. Patrick’s Church, Scranton. Barb loved life, travel and all aspects of crafting. She will be dearly missed by her husband, family and friends.
In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her brothers in law Tim O’Boyle and his wife Mary Ann, Scranton, Tom O’Boyle, Dickson City and several cousins, nephews and a niece. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents John and Helen DuzenRylo, paternal grandparents Charles and Mary LacomisPlisga, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, IHM Chapel, 1605 Oram St., Scranton, PA 18504. The family will greet friends at the Chapel from 9:30 AM until the time of the service with internment at a later date in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont, PA.
On behalf of Barb and her husband Joseph they would like to offer their sincerest appreciation for all the wonderful care provided by the special nurses and staff of the 8th floor of Regional Hospital and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Barb’s name to St. Jude’s, 262 Danny Thomas Place, MS 277, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Donahue Funeral Home, 303 South Main Avenue, Scranton, PA 18504.
