Alice Shipman Warner

1937-2025

Alice Lucille Shipman Warner, 87 of Scranton passed away Sunday July 27th, 2025 at home after an illness.

Born in Buckhannon, WV she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Genevieve Shipman, a member of Mary Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church and a graduate of HS in WV.

Always a hard worker, Alice raised her daughters and a son while working full time in various restaurants including Coney Island on Cedar Ave for an extended period of time, the American Red Cross, Boscov’s and volunteering at Telespond Senior Services. She was a strong woman whose love of family and guidance will live forever.

Alice touched many lives during her time on earth and leaves behind her daughters Debbie Shabroski and husband Richard, Scranton and Patricia Zantowsky and husband Duane, Clearwater, FL; a son James R. Warner and wife Ellie, Scranton; a sister Goldie Shipman, WV; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great children and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Alice Marie Kizer; sisters Marge Bean and Rita Shipman and brother’s Thomas, Ronnie, Jerry and Robert Shipman.

The family will great friends on Monday from 11 to 1 PM at the Donahue Funeral Home, 303 S Main Ave., Scranton, PA 18504 [scrantonfuneralservices.com] with a Blessing service at the FH celebrated by Pastor Father Cyril Edwards, Mary Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, at 1 PM. Internment will follow immediately at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
