Joan M. Weber Gardocki, 91 of Scranton passed away Monday August 3rd, 2026, at home after an illness. She was married to her beloved husband, Leonard Gardocki for 35 years until his untimely death in 1988.
Born in Scranton she was the daughter of the late Otto and Katharine Merkel Weber, a faithful member of St. John the Baptist / St. Patrick’s Church and a graduate of West Scranton HS.
Always a hard worker, Joan, along with her husband Leonard, raised two daughters and three boys while working full time as a homemaker and in demand seamstress. She was a woman with a quiet sense of humor who enjoyed reading, traveling, cruising and most of all whose love of family and guidance will be an enduring source of strength to her family.
Joan leaves behind three boys, Joseph Gardocki, Tunkhannock, John Gardocki, Scranton, Leonard Gardocki and his finance Sharon Georgetti, Scranton; her two daughters Ann Stone, Archbald and Nancy Lepka, Scranton; her 5 grandchildren, Carrie Fuller (Tim), Christine Moylan, Bobby, Jr., Kevin and Corey Lepka; 5 great grandchildren, Natalie and Allison Fuller, Ava and Aiden Moylan and Zaria Lepka; her sister Betty Griffiths; sister in law Carol Weber and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Sally Bird, brothers Chuck and Billy Weber.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held Thursday at St Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM celebrated by Pastor Rev Richard Fox.
The family will greet friends at the Church from 10 AM until time of service. Interment will follow the Mass in Cathedral Cemetery.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Montella and his nurse Shelly for their years of compassionate care provided their mother, nurse Samatha from Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the loving care provided by her daughter and son Ann and Leonard, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William Street, Dunmore, PA 18512.
