1948 – 2025
Gerald “Jerry” Miller, 76, died peacefully July 7th after a fierce battle with Alzheimer’s. He was a fighter until the end, his faith never failing him. He and his beloved wife, Jean Hamilton Miller, celebrated their 56-wedding anniversary in October.
Born at home in Scranton, Jerry was the son of the late Stephen and Rhea Wiles Miller and a graduate of WS HS, Class of 1966. As a youth he achieved the honor of Eagle Scout. After graduation he worked with his father in steel, then on the railroad for many years. He found his passion working in the theater at the Scranton Cultural Center and the NEPA Philharmonic as a member of [IATSE], Local 329 with his wife joining him.
Jerry’s deep lasting faith made him who he was. He loved his Harley, cars, trucks and trains. His favorite place was at the lake where he spent his last days.
In addition to his wife Jean, Jerry is survived by his daughters Kathryn Miller, Phila., Jenifer Habeeb and husband John, Apex, NC, Mauranita Miller, Baylor’s Lake, and Dr. Maggie Miller and her husband Joseph Raymer, Dalton; his grandchildren John Paul and Katie Anna Habeeb, Caleb, Sarah Jean and Elena Miller; sisters Anita Carroll and Kimberly Miller both of Scranton and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Charles Miller age 3.
Jean and the family invite you to a celebration of Jerry’s life to be held at his favorite workplace, the ballroom of the Scranton Cultural Center, 430 N. Washington Ave., Scranton, PA 18503 on Sunday August 10th, 22025, from 1 to 4 PM.
