Bernard R. Karmolinski

1928-2023

Bernard Karmolinski passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Abington Manor with his daughter Linda by his side. Bernie and his loving wife Leona Zurowski Karmolinski were married 66 years until her passing in December 2018.

Bernie was born in Peckville in 1928 the son of the late Stanley and Helen Cichocki Karmolinski and graduated from Dickson City HS. Prior to his retirement, he held several positions throughout his career, including with the Chamberlin Corporation as a machinist.

Always a man of faith and citizenship Bernie, along with his wife Leona were active members of the former Sacred Heart, now St. Paul of the Cross Church community, and served for many years as Red Coat volunteers at the Scranton Cultural Center where they were together honored as volunteers of the year. Bernie’s life was characterized by deep faith, love for his family and sharing generously his joy for living.

Bernie leaves his loving daughter Linda Polanin and her husband David, S Abington Twp.; grandchildren Greg and his wife Colleen and their daughter Riley, Lewes, DE and Jeff and his wife Lauren, Glenburn as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. Bernie was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene and Desmond.

The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided Bernie by the staff of Abington Manor especially Christina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Jonathan Kuhar on Friday May 19th, at 9:30 AM at St. Paul the Cross Church, 1222 Prospect Avenue, Scranton with internment to follow in Sacred Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bernie and Leona’s memory to The Scranton Cultural Center, 420 N Washington Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Donahue Funeral Home, 303 S Main Ave., Scranton, PA. 18504.
